Our Story
Danny created BK9 in January 2021 during the Covid pandemic. Many people thought this was a mistake but he was aware that dogs would still need help no matter what was going on in the world. The Covid pandemic birthed the new age of 'lockdown puppies' and people needed a trainer who was still willing to help.
The company is built on SHOW US THE PROBLEM & WE WILL SHOW YOU THE SOLUTION.
We are a balanced dog training company and take pride in helping our clients and their dogs work together to get them the results they want, supporting them through the process.
We are known for taking dogs who have court orders, or who are massively reactive and sometimes aggressive, meaning we are their last chance. We are also known for taking on the bigger breeds out there from Bullies and Rottweilers to Mali's and German Shepherds.
Our services have been created with our clients in mind. We have many levels of support to suit any financial budget, from 1-1 private sessions to group walks and having the ability to contact Danny in real time. This makes sure that all clients feel they can be heard and get the help they need from us.
Danny CEO/Dog trainer
Danny got in to dog training when his own dog became extremely dog reactive after being attacked by other dogs 5 times before the age of 1.
After paying out a lot of money for training and also volunteering in multiple places in the dog industry, like rescues and training companies, he felt he was not getting the help and support he and his dog needed and so he began to learn and train himself, using the area he lived in. As he did this, people began to notice and started asking for his help.
He began to help people for free in his down time from his full time job which gained him valuable hands on experience with many different breeds of dog.
This continued for 2 years before he started to charge £15 for 2 hour sessions in order to cover the cost of petrol and still help people. It was a further 2 years before Danny felt he had developed his skills and technique enough to start walking packs of dogs together and working with reactive dogs other trainers did not. This led him to the decision to go into full time dog training.
In 2021 he made the decision to leave his job and create his own balanced dog training company, BIRKENHEAD K9. He now uses his time to help dogs and people in his own way, 1 dog at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my pet too old to be trained?
No dog is too old or too young to be trained. We just have to remember that older dogs need a more tailored approach and there will be a limit to how much change we can implement into their life.
How many training sessions will I need?
After your initial 121 consultation with Danny, he will have a better understanding of both you and your dog and a rough idea of how training will commence. It is difficult to put a time frame on dog training as each dog is individual and the training programme is built for each specific client.
